If your fuel tank leaks, the best practice is to stop driving. To be fair, we can assume the driver of this leaky semi didn’t know there was a crack in the tank.
Back in May 2021, Team Pro-Enviro responded to a call from a local hardware store with a significant diesel spill in and around the parking lot and down the block. A semi-truck made a delivery and then leaked a trail of fuel along the front of the building, through the parking lot, the drive and then down the street!
Fuel Spill Recovery to the Rescue
This diesel spill made a colossal mess, but not one too big for Pro-Enviro! We arrived at the scene with all the equipment to tackle the fuel spill cleanup. Our spill response included absorbents, transport trucks and containment equipment.
First, we placed containers around the damaged fuel tank to contain the spill and prevent it from spreading further. Then, absorbents were used to clean up most of the fuel, which was then swept up and disposed of. It took some time, but we stuck to it and did a meticulous fuel spill cleanup of this widespread mess.
Protect the Storm Drains
At this job, we noticed nearby storm drains. Protecting these drains is a top priority! If contaminants go down the drain, it can damage waterways, the environment, and communities’ natural water supply. It also means hefty penalties and fines for those responsible for the diesel spill contamination.
So, if we see a storm drain at a fuel spill recovery, we get to work blocking it off. That way, we can protect our customers from expensive storm drain cleaning fees, potential fines and charges. Most importantly, we can ensure the environment, including wildlife and waterways, is clean and safe.
