Not every hazardous spill cleanup comes from a motor vehicle in our line of work. Sometimes, spilled cargo can be dangerous. Back in May 2022, a flatbed trailer carrying large glass panes lost its load. The result was shattered glass, over $45,000 worth of lost cargo and an extensive glass cleanup job for Team Pro-Enviro.

Shattered glass obviously presents hazards, so we had to do a thorough scene assessment and create a plan of action for this complicated cargo cleanup. We secured the glass panels that were not broken, so ensure they didn’t suffer the same shattering fate as the rest of the load!
We used a Bobcat to carefully scoop the largest glass shards and dispose of them in a bin. Then, we were meticulous in sweeping up the small pieces, ensuring nothing was left on the parking lot to cause flat tires or injury.
Our crew had to be extremely careful handling this cargo cleanup. As always, we focused on safety first, using proper protective equipment and taking our time. Thankfully, it was in a parking lot and not a roadway blocking traffic.
