On December 27, 2021, another incident with a load of potatoes required extensive semi-truck cleanup—a semi-truck hauling a full load of taters overturned near Sumner, WA. The truck went into the ditch, and its potato load went in with it, scattering mashed potatoes at the scene.
Unfortunately, the fuel tank had suffered damage from the accident. It required fuel cleanup on the scene!
Semi-Truck Accident Recovery
The rolled-over semi-truck needed lifting out of the ditch. Team Pro-Tow handled this semi-truck accident cleanup and recovery. First, we cautiously rigged the crane ropes around the semi-truck and started drawing it out of the ditch. Upon reaching stable and even terrain, we detached the rigging from the front of the trailer. Then, we arranged air cushions along the roadway and positioned them beneath the truck’s underside. Finally, we re-rigged the semi-truck around the rear to haul it forward and restore it to an upright position.
In semi-truck accident cleanup, and others like it, we’ll use air cushions to help get the casualty off the ground. We place inflated cushions beneath the truck or trailer. Then, inflating them helps lift it so we can secure the rigging and complete the lift. This recovery method helps prevent damage to the vehicle as it flips back onto its wheels.

Spill and Cargo Cleanup
Once the truck and trailer were out of the way, Pro-Enviro cleaned up. First, we ensured the fuel spill was contained and took the necessary steps to remove all contaminates from the area. Then, we got to scooping up the potatoes. Once the spill and cargo cleanup was complete, we filed the paperwork, reconditioned the equipment and called it a job well done.
Did we mention this wasn’t the only time we’ve cleaned up potatoes?
We’ve dug out nearly 20,000 pounds of spilled potatoes in Fern Gap, WA. And Pro-Tow recovered a truck and trailer load of potatoes on Tiger Mountain! So if you spill potatoes, you know who to call!
