In this incident, on November 11, 2021, Team Pro-Enviro received a dispatch from Washington State Police about an overturned tractor and fully loaded trailer. The unit had left the roadway, hit a tree down an embankment and was 100 feet off the road. On top of that, there were some weather warnings about a winter storm and flooding throughout the area.
Still, not a problem for our team! We headed out with an HD rotating crane-style wrecker, HD recovery wrecker, spill response vehicle, and special equipment support vehicle. In addition, we brought an HD tractor and travelling axle, three-axle Landoll trailer and certified emergency recovery personnel. We are always equipped and prepared for accident cleanup.
Broken Apart Trailer Needs Accident Debris Cleanup
Once there, we performed a scene evaluation to determine the safest way to handle the recovery. Our team dealt with the arduous task of transporting rigging from the recovery equipment to the trailer. After that, we successfully began inching the trailer out with minimal cargo escapement.
Unfortunately, the trailer continually came apart until it required some non-routine cutting, loading, lifting, loading, and securing. Sure, it was non-routine work, but we remained motivated and worked hard until the job was done.
Hauling Off Debris
Once we had loaded the trailer, it was taken to the nearby storage yard and temporarily stowed. Part of the trailer debris was left behind until we could return to tackle the rest of the accident debris cleanup. Pro-Enviro excavated the cargo and debris into the containers using our excavator, two dumpsters, and a large end dump trailer. We transported the waste and trailer bits to manifest and sent the cargo to the storage yard.
Final Check for the Accident Cleanup
Next, we used the evacuation equipment to perform a spill evacuation and pressure-washed waste from the street. Again, no mess is left behind on our watch!
Finally, we transported the evacuated spill waste to the manifest site. Finally, we did intensive reconditioning of the equipment before completing the paperwork and giving the all-clear.
