On May 2, 2019, Team Pro-Tow was called to a semi-truck accident near Auburn, WA. The truck had overturned, and its trailer was carrying a whole load of steel that weighed more than 70,000 lbs. This wreck would be a challenging semi-truck accident recovery.
The truck had also spilled motor vehicle fluids and left a significant diesel fuel spill. Our team worked quickly to contain the spill and prevent runoff into a nearby storm drain. Once the casualty was recovered, we promptly contained and cleaned the area. Keeping hazardous fuel and oil away from the storm drain, and removing all contaminated soil and debris is part of a comprehensive spill recovery.
Protecting the Storm Drains
Team Pro-Enviro will always work quickly with safety foremost in every incident. Our team works swiftly and carefully to contain any contaminants during a diesel fuel spill and recovery job. Oil and fuel spills have severe consequences for the environment.
For example, when motor vehicle fluid goes into a storm drain, its impact can be far-reaching. Once in the storm drain, it can go into natural waterways. Once that happens, it harms local plant life and animals and creates an even bigger and more expensive mess. Storm drain contaminates can damage salmon habitat, pollute shellfish beds, and contaminate swimming areas. It can also degrade water quality and contaminate the groundwater we drink from our taps!
Spill Recovery
Not containing a spill and causing waterway contamination will also lead to severe fines from the government. That’s why calling Team Pro-Enviro as soon as possible is so important. First, our team will respond quickly and efficiently to contain the spill and prevent contamination. Then, we’ll handle all the work and a detailed cleanup to minimize the chance of fines and negative environmental impact.
